Winter Festival Door Decorating Contest
A special thank you to our PTSA for sponsoring our Winter Festival Door Decorating Contest before the holiday break. Each homeroom selected a country to depict and we had a tie between two of our classes for the final prize. At-Home COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Test Kit
Before the holiday break, every SMMS student received an At-Home COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Test Kit during PE. In order to provide for a safer return to school after the Winter Break, each student should take the test tonight or tomorrow morning before returning to school.
SMMS Parent Workshop “How to Help Our Children Handle Stress & Anxiety”: Tuesday, January 10
This Tuesday night at 6:00pm, SMMS will be hosting a virtual Parent Workshop provided by Young and Healthy. Please make certain to join us for this special opportunity to add to your skillset in supporting your student.

How to help our children handle stress and anxiety: Stress and anxiety are a normal part of life. Some stress is healthy, it motivates us to learn, helps us to focus, and pushes us to explore outside of our comfort zone. When the stress that we experience becomes greater than our ability to handle that stress or greater than the resources that we have to address our stressors, that is when we are at risk for toxic stress, burnout, and anxiety. Join this discussion to learn to recognize the warning signs and some things that we can do learn how to handle stress and anxiety.

School Site Council Meeting: Wednesday, January 11
This Wednesday evening our School Site Council will be meeting virtually at 6:00pm. All of our SSC meetings are open to the public.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday: Monday, January 16
There will be no school next Monday in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Classes will resume on January 17.
