Pasadena Playhouse is looking for volunteers to join us as ushers and ticket takers and we need you!
What do ushers do?
Ushers play an integral role in the care, comfort and safety of all patrons who visit Pasadena Playhouse.
Under the supervision of the House Manager, ushers are responsible for welcoming, seating and
accommodating audience members, while also being knowledgeable of all policies and procedures on
show days.
Volunteer ushers should feel comfortable engaging with the public as this is a highly social position.
Volunteers with an interest in theater or the performing arts are highly encouraged to join us!
During orientation, volunteers learn about the theater and the responsibilities of the different usher
roles. Our performance schedule includes day, evening and weekend shifts.
What do ushers wear?
White shirt or blouse, black pants, black closed toed shoes with a black jacket or cardigan optional.
How long is an usher shift?
First time ushers arrive 90 minutes prior to showtime and receive an orientation from the House
Manager. Regular usher call time is 75 minutes prior to curtain. All ushers are asked to stay until 15
minutes after the show ends. The average usher shift is approximately 4 hours depending on the length
of the production.
Where do ushers park?
Ushers receive parking passes to park in the Playhouse Plaza parking structure located directly across
the street from the Playhouse.

• Do you have a reliable means of transportation?

A note about accessibility: We ask that volunteer ushers be able to walk up and down stairs as there is no elevator access to our Mezzanine level. Ushers
are also asked to stand and walk for extended periods of time. Reasonable accommodations can be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform
