L.A.M.P. MENTOR PROGRAM FOR AFRICAN AMERICAN MALES (9th-12th)-
L.A.M.P. MENTOR PROGRAM FOR AFRICAN AMERICAN MALES (9th-12th)
I am excited to write to you regarding the ground-breaking L.A.M.P. Mentor Program which is committed to mentoring African American males in high school.
L.A.M.P. stands for Leadership, Achievement, Management and Professionalism and the main goal of the program is to assist young African American men in developing their potential. As such, the program promotes leadership, volunteerism, community service, civic involvement, and decision-making skills, through impactful and interactive workshops; led by successful African American men from a variety of professions. The program is completely free of charge.
Monthly sessions occur on Saturdays from 8:30am-12:00pm and run fromAugust to May. Mentees and the speakers must attend meetings in business attire, and we have a Suit Bank Program to provide mentees with gently used items of clothing. At the end of the ten-month program, there is a luncheon, honoring graduating seniors and rewarding them with scholarship support for college.
