Open Enrollment for the 2019-2020 School Year

Bulldog 2019-2020 Open Enrollment/School Choice Application Period Begins January 10, 2019

The Pasadena Unified School District’s (PUSD) annual Open Enrollment-School Choice for the 2019-2020 academic year begins January 10, 2019. Online applications for students who live within the district’s attendance boundaries, as well as children of PUSD employees, will be accepted through February 1, 2019 at openenrollment.info.

While all students who live within PUSD boundaries are assured placement in their neighborhood school, the district’s annual Open Enrollment-School Choice offers families an opportunity to apply to  themed, magnet, or specialized schools and programs outside the boundaries of their school of residence.

Applications are submitted online ONLY through the district's website. If you have an incoming student who wants to attend Pasadena High School but you do not reside in the Pasadena High School attendance zone you must submit an application through this Open Enrollment period.  To check your address to see which school is your school of attendance go here.

At the time you submit your application you have the option to select Pasadena High School or one of our signature Pathway programs: Creative Arts and Media Design (CAMAD)Law and Public Service (LPS) or the APP Academy: Mobile, Web & Game Development.

We would love to share our school with you. School tours are scheduled at 8:30 am on the following dates: January 15, 29; February 12, 26; March 12, 26; April 2, 30. Sign up for a campus tour here or contact Isabel Ramirez at ramirez.isabel@pusd.us or 626.396.5880 ext 84029 to reserve your spot.

Improvements to Open Enrollment-School Choice this year make it easier for more families to participate --- and guarantee that families will stay the same or improve their school assignment during each round or lottery. Changes this year include:

  • Families can select an unlimited number of schools on their preference list in the first round or lottery. Previously, the list had been limited to five schools;
  • The same preference list is used in every round.
  • After the final round or lottery, families join the waiting list of every school they choose, in the event seats become available after the traditional open enrollment season ends.  The wait list is active through August 9, 2019.
