8th Grade Important Dates and Promotion Details
Final Days of 8th Grade!
Be sure to be aware of these important dates and details.
April 26 Deadline for Payment & Permission Slip for Magic Mountain
May 10 Last day for those going to Magic Mountain to clear any outstanding Detention/Saturday School Hours.
Date still to be determined: 8th Grade Textbook Return
May 17 Last day to pay for Catalina Science Camp
May 22-24 Catalina Science Camp
May 16 & May 21
Final exams for all 8th graders. May 16 – Periods 1, 2, & 3 May 21 – Period 4, 5, & 6
May 17 8th grade trip to Six Flags Magic Mountain (Leave Blair at 12:40 pm. Return to Blair at 12:45 am.)
May 24 Promotion rehearsal #1 @ 8:00 am. in the gym. Report to Period 1 first. All eligible 8th graders MUST attend! (Unless on Catalina Trip.)
May 24 Last day to clear detention hours to participate in Promotion Ceremony.
May 27 School holiday
May 28 Promotion rehearsal #2 for eligible 8th graders will begin promptly at 8:00 am. Students are to report to Period 1 first.
All eligible 8th graders MUST attend! (Students without textbook clearance tickets will not be allowed to participate.)
May 29 Wed. May 29th, 10:30 am, Promotion Ceremony in the Gym.
Students are to meet in the Blair High School Choir/Orchestra Room at 9:45 am to line up. (Gym doors open for seating at 10:10 am. There are no tickets and there is always plenty of seating.)
On this special day, students are required to dress appropriately. Dress and tops must have sleeves. No spaghetti straps. Shoulders must be covered during the ceremony. Dresses and skirts should at least be to knee. Collar shirts with ties. Dress pants; dress shoes. No shorts, t-shirts or jeans. Students may not carry props (canes, balloons, cameras, large hats, etc.) Only school awarded medals may be worn. Failure to follow the guidelines will result in the student not participating in the promotion exercise.
May 30 No School for 8th Grade Students
(Grades 6,7,9,10 and 11 will still be taking final exams. 8th graders may not remain on campus to visit.)
