Technology Support: Frequently Asked Questions
1. What's my PUSD email address? Students need a PUSD email address to log in to Chromebooks and Canvas.
- All students have a PUSD Google email account.
- All Washington students should regularly check their PUSD email account as this is where you will receive school information.
- Your default username is as follows (first 2 characters of last name lower case) + (last 4 digits of student ID) + (first 2 characters of first name lower case) + (2 digit birth month) + (2 digit birthday). Example: Joe Smith (born 08/19/2001 and ID 991234) = SM1234JO0819@pusd.us.
- Your default password is as follows: (first letter of first name capitalized) + (first letter of last name lowercase) + (6 digit ID) = password. Example: Joe Smith (student ID 991234 = Js991234.
2. What should I do if apps or teacher websites aren't working properly once I've logged in to my Chromebook?
- "Power-wash" your Chromebook: power washing instructions.
- Power washing regularly helps to reset your Chromebook when you are experiencing issues with increased slowness, inability to connect to WIFI, not being able to load apps, programs, websites, etc.
- Power washing also ensures that you receive updates on a regular basis. Please click on the following link for instructions on how to power wash your Chromebook:
3. Who do I contact if my Chromebook doesn't work? You can contact PUSD's IT Department:
- #1- Email your teacher/s from another device such as a cell phone to let them know you cannot access online classes. If you don't have access to email, call the main office.

4. Which class period is it right now? How do I find my class?
Class period times are listed below. All classes begin with live, online instruction followed by personalized learning time (online lessons or small group instruction with the teacher).
- At the start of each class period, students should log in to Canvas, our online learning management system.
- Click on the course name for the class period that is scheduled at that time.
- Click on Cisco Webex in the left navigation.
- Find the meeting for the correct date and time. Click "Join".
- If you do not see a class meeting scheduled, make sure you are in the correct class period for the day/time.
- Email your teacher for help if you cannot find the class meeting.

*Mondays are shortened days. Class periods alternate on Mondays. For the first week of school, students will attend periods 1, 2, and 3 on Monday. Next week, they will attend periods 4,5,6 on Monday. |
