Welcome Kindergarten Pandas!

July 24, 2018

Buenas Tardes Kindergarten Panda Families !

In just a matter of weeks, your little ones will begin their FIRST DAY OF KINDERGARTEN and this is a milestone that we are honored to celebrate with you and your family.

It seems like just yesterday that my eldest daughter Metztli walked out of my car with the biggest greenest eyes showing her excitement and at the same time, her nervousness.  As we walked up the school sidewalk holding hands for her first day of Kindergarten, I’m not sure who was more nervous, her or me.  Now, she is beginning Graduate School next month and I have to bribe her to hold my hand in public.  Moral of the story, enjoy this special moment and let’s celebrate it!

This first day of Kindergarten will be a fast day.  Because it lands on a Monday, it will also be a Minimum Day with dismissal from school at 12:35 pm.  In the morning, you will join your student on the Upper Playground as they line up to wait for the bell to ring and for their teacher to pick them up.  There are no lines painted on the blacktop so follow the crowd.  Kindergarten lines up closest to the steps leading up to the back of the main school building (it will make sense once you’re there).  Kindergarten lines up Room #9, then Room #11, then Room #12 side by side but not too close as Kindergarteners will be Kindergarteners and we all know what that means!

At 7:45 am, the Kindergarten teachers will walk down the back steps to pick up their students.  On the first day of school, you will be allowed to walk with your student to their classroom but then our PTA Parents will steal you to join us for our PTA “Boo-Hoo Breakfast” in the auditorium at 8:00 am.  We want to provide our Kindergarten parents with a space to debrief the excitement of the morning with as it will be the first of many times for us to celebrate our students together.

Please know that this letter is only being shared with Kindergarten families.  The rest of this packet is going out to the rest of the school to help all of our Panda Families prepare for an amazing 2018-2019 school year!

Have a great rest of the summer !

Respectfully,
