Families in Transition

  • FIT2 Families in Transition (FIT) is the Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD) school support program fulfilling the requirements of the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act. The program is located at PUSD's Center for Student & Family Services on the campus of Madison Elementary School. The FIT program ensures that all PUSD students experiencing housing insecurity or homelessness receive equitable access to a high-quality education and support services. 

    Families in Transition...

    • Identifies, outreaches, and advocates for PUSD students and their families experiencing housing insecurity or homelessness
    • Enrolls PUSD students experiencing housing insecurity or homelessness into school as soon as possible
    • Provides school preparedness kits (backpacks/school supplies), emergency basic needs assistance (food/clothing pantry), family support, academic accountability, transportation assistance, and other services as appropriate to any PUSD student experiencing housing insecurity or homelessness
    • Refers PUSD students and families experiencing housing insecurity or homelessness to health, mental health, and other social services
    • Informs PUSD parents experiencing housing insecurity or homelessness of the educational rights of their children and provides opportunities for them to participate in their education

    Families in Transition is under the leadership of the Director of Health & Wellness and the Assistant Superintendent of School Support Services.

    *NOTE* The FIT Office may be closed during regular business hours for off-site school/shelter visits, collaborative meetings, or professional development.
