Blair received minimal work during previous modernization efforts in the school district, so major work is needed. The previous "C" building was torn down as part of Measure Y funded improvements, and the replacement "C" building was successfully built under Measure TT.

The next step is to modernize the main "A" building. This includes major infrastructure upgrades:

    • replace old electrical and add adequate capacity
    • replace underground sewer piping
    • update the fire sprinkler system
    • properly configure the water systems
    • replace lighting and upgrade to modern high efficiency lighting
    • upgrade the HVAC (heating and air conditioning) system, including heating/cooling the JROTC and Music Rooms for the first time ever

    The project also includes:

    • modernized science classrooms (primarily for the Health Careers Academy)
    • reconfiguration of the administrative, library and counseling center areasd
    • reorientation of the building for a central, modernized entry (facing the parking lot)
    • landscaping and lighting of parking lot
    • exterior design features

Previous plans included improvements NO LONGER part of the project scope, including:

    • an additional classroom wing (to have been built in the parking lot)
    • shade structure and/or other amphitheatre enhancements
    • gym locker room updates
    • cafeteria and kitchen updates

More information about the Measure TT bond measure funding the modernization is available online. Measure TT is overseen by a Citizens Oversight Committee (with additional community representatives needed to fill vacant positions). Overseeing the process at PUSD is the school board's Facilities subcommittee and Facilities Chief Mr. Nelson Cayabyab.
