  • 3/15 SCHOOL CLOSURES

    Dear Cougar Families,

By now you are aware that PUSD has made the decision to close schools until April 6 in an effort to keep everyone safe from the spread of the COVID-19.

Monday from 10am - 12 noon, parents of students who did not pick up instructional materials and a Chromebook may come to the main office for pick up.

After Monday, PUSD will designate a specific pick up site to retrieve a Chromebook, consumable instructional materials and there will be a limited number of hot spots available for pick up for families who may not have access to wifi.

MEALS: Starting on Tuesday, March 17 PUSD will provide breakfast and lunch for students 18 years old and younger. Meals will be served between 9-11am Monday-Friday in the parking lot or bus lane at each participating school. No meals will be provided over spring break, March 30-April 3. Please remain in your car and meals will be passed through the window based on the number of children in the car.

AAM students will receive meals at Eliot Arts Magnet Middle School.
This program is solely for the pick up of meals and food is not to be consumed on site.

Academic Instruction: Students can access General Content via gopusd.com/remote
Please make sure students are staying on a healthy "home school" schedule.

Arts Instruction: Starting Monday, KVIE2 will air educational programs specifically for kids in grades Pre-K through 12 from 6AM to 6PM. You can also find a number of online resources at http://pbskids.org/learn to help support your child’s learning during these closures. Additionally, Ms. Camargo will be working on developing virtual studio lessons for our Cougars!

Please stay safe and healthy everyone. I will still be working remotely, so if you need anything or have any questions or concerns I am here for you. The most important thing to do now is stay close to those you love and practice social distancing from all others.

I will be on Facebook Live tomorrow morning to do our usual morning assembly at 7:45am if you'd like to tune in. I will also be scheduling some bedtime stories for the children to watch and I'll be working with our Technology department to see how to get these videos uploaded into the student's Clever accounts so those who do not use Facebook can still watch.

At no other time in my career has our Cougar Value of "Stay Strong" meant more. Please take good care so we may all come back together healthy and happy.

    Yours in Service,

    Dr. Scheckel

  • 3/13 COVID-19 ANNOUNCEMENT

    Good Afternoon Cougar Families,

This is Dr. Scheckel providing you with an update regarding COVID-19 and our district's response. Beginning Monday, March 16, there will be no school for students. We hope to be able to reopen school for students after spring break. For students who are in school today teachers will be sending students home with consumable instructional materials, a chrome book, power cord and a QR code login card for students in grades K-2. Students in grades 3-5 know how to log into their accounts. We will not be providing valet service today. You must park and enter the foyer of the auditorium to sign out your student's chrome book. If you prefer to not take home the computer, that is your choice and hard copy materials will be provided to you at a later date. 2 weeks of digital instructional materials have been prepared for which your students will have access via their Chrome books from home. If your student is not at school today there will be a designated pick up site at which you will be able to pick up a Chrome book, cord or hard copies of materials. Further information about the pick up location will be forthcoming. The district is working on designating meal pick up locations for families who will want access to food for their children during this time. If your child is staying in LEARNs after school today, Ms. Jessica will have the Chrome book sign out process ready to go for you. Please know that we wish you health and safety in this strange time. I look forward to welcoming all my Cougars back to school in the not too distant future.
