2021-22 New Applicants!- Open Enrollment Lottery for 2021-2022
1st Lottery: January 7 (9AM) - January 28, 2021 (4PM)
Who can apply during the first lottery? PUSD Employees and families who live within PUSD boundaries. Verifications will be required.
2nd Lottery: March 15th-March 19th
Who can apply during the second lottery? New applicants and Non-PUSD Applications of Interest
If John Muir is your school of residence:
Families who live within the school boundary have the privilege of enrolling based on their home address. To determine if you live within the school attendance boundary, use the SCHOOL LOCATOR.
A student residing in the school attendance area for John Muir High School (who is not on a permit to attend another Pasadena Unified School District campus), may register online.
To enroll your child you will need to provide the following documents before you plan to begin school:
- PROOF OF RESIDENCE
Two of the following items can be used
Rental Agreement
Utility Bill
House Deed
Lease Agreement - BIRTH CERTIFICATE
Required of all students new to the Pasadena Unified School District entering K-12 grades - IMMUNIZATION RECORD
Proof of immunization record required of all students new/returning to the Pasadena Unified School District
Additional information regarding registration is available through PUSD's Office of Enrollment, Permits, and Student Records.
If you live within John Muir's attendance boundary but are currently on a permit to attend another PUSD campus:
Families who are on a permit to attend another PUSD high school and wish to return to John Muir should complete an application during Open Enrollment, January 7th-January 28th, 2021: pusd.us/openenrollment.
If you live within Pasadena Unified School District Boundaries but do NOT live within John Muir’s attendance boundary:
Families not residing within John Muir's boundaries may apply through the District's annual OPEN ENROLLMENT process. Families new-to-PUSD following the close of Open Enrollment who do not reside in the John Muir attendance boundary may apply at the Office of Enrollment, Permits & Student Records, District Offices. Please email districtregistrar@pusd.us for assistance.
If you do not live within Pasadena Unified School District Boundaries:
Interested families from other school districts apply through PUSD's Office of Enrollment, Permits & Student Records. Non-PUSD families will need to arrange for an Inter-district Permit. Please email the completed form and questionnaire below to: districtregistrar@pusd.us.

Thanks to our partnership with Pasadena City College (PCC), students begin taking college courses starting in 9th grade and can earn up to two years of college credits while in high school, for free.
