Parents are an important part of the Jefferson school community. In addition to supporting your own student at home and volunteering to help with field trips or other school activities, there are several parent groups that meet regularly, and anyone can attend. Please double-check as meeting times and dates may change during the year.
Parent Teacher Association (PTA) - part of a national organization whose mission is to make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children. Families, teachers, and other members of the Jefferson community are encouraged to join Jefferson's PTA. PTA meetings are every 1ST Tuesday of the month / Las juntas son el primer martes de cada mes - Room/Salón 21 (meeting dates).
English Learners Advisory Committee (ELAC) - helps keep parents of English Learners informed; parents advise school officials on English Learner program services and make recommendations to SSC. (ELAC meetings are the 3rd Thursday of the month at 8 am / Las juntas son el tercer jueves de cada mes - 8 am - Room/Salón 21 (meeting dates).
School Site Council (SSC) - parents elect representatives to meet with the principal and teacher and staff representatives. SSC works with the principal to develop, review and evaluate Jefferson’s yearly budget and school improvement programs. SSC meetings are the last Tuesday of every month / Las juntas son el final martes del mes - 2:35 pm - Room/Salón 23 (meeting dates)
Dual Language Immersion Program Parent Advisory Committee (DLIP PAC) - keeps DLIP parents informed and advises school officials on DLIP needs. DLIP PAC meetings are held at three-four times per year (meeting dates & times)
Gifted and Talented Education Committee - meets at 10 am four times per year (GATE Committee meetings are held at 10 am, four times per year (meeting dates).
