Policies

  • Creating safe and effective learning environments throughout the school is important.  In addition to our school wide rules, we have a few policies that help us maintain a welcoming learning community.  Below is a partial summary of those policies.  A copy of our school rules and policies will be sent home at the beginning of the year and is available in the main office.

    CODE OF CONDUCT

Be safe.  Be respectful.  Be responsible.

    SCHOOL TO HOME COMMUNICATION
Every Tuesday, your child will bring home a red folder that contains important information for parents.  Please review the contents and have your child return the folder every Wednesday.

    ATTENDANCE
It is very important for students to be in school on time every day.  Your child's academic achievement is dependent on his/her regular school attendance.  If you child is going to be absent, please notify our attendance clerk, Ms. Gonzalez, in the main office.  For each day of absence, a note explaining the reason for the absence must be received by the office staff within 3 days of the student's return.  If your child needs to attend a routine visit to the doctor or dentist, please bring your child to school for a portion of the day and notify the teacher of the need to leave school early so they can prepare for the early departure.  If a student arrives at school after 8:45 AM, they must go to the office to receive a tardy slip and will be marked tardy.  Multiple tardies may warrant a truancy meeting with the administrator or designee.

    School Hours:
    Mondays: 8:45 AM -- 1:30 PM
    Tuesdays - Fridays:  8:45 AM -- 3:10 PM

Supervision begins at 8:00 in the cafeteria.  If students are dropped off before 8:00, you must register for the LEARNS Day Care program.

    HOME-TO-SCHOOL COMMUNICATION
The time your student spends in the classroom is very valuable and we limit the amount of interruptions that teachers and students receive.  Please communicate all necessary information to your child before they leave for school in the morning.  If there is an emergency and you need to get information to your child, please call the main office.  If you need to communicate with the teacher, please try to see him/her before or after school, send a note or email, or leave a message with the office staff. Please do not call the classrooms during instructional time.

    UNIFORMS
The school uniform consists of navy blue or khaki pants, walking shorts, skirts, or skorts with white, red, blue or navy blue collared or polo shirts.  Red Field School t-shirts and blue jeans can be worn on Fridays.  The PTA will sell red Field School sweatshirts and t-shirts throughout the year.  Open-toed shoes are not allowed.

    NUTRITION
Our school cafeteria serves breakfast and lunch daily.  Breakfast will be served from 8:10 to 8:40 and the lunch schedule is dependent on the child's grade level.  The PUSD offers a free and reduced lunch program for the families that qualify.  We ask that all families submit an application so that no qualifying families are missed.  For those that wish to purchase meals, breakfast costs $1.00, lunch costs $1.75, milk costs $.35, and juice may also be purchased for $.30.  A menu will be issued to each student at the beginning of the month.

    CLASSROOM CELEBRATIONS
It is important to have classroom celebrations to honor our children; however, there has been concern regarding the loss of  instructional time and the distribution of too much unhealthy food due to birthday celebrations.  Therefore, each teacher will choose one afternoon each month for birthday celebrations  If you wish for your child to celebrate his/her birthday with their classmates, please work with your child's teacher to arrange a celebration on the designated day and plan an appropriate menu.
