Parent Involvement

  • Marshall Fundamental enjoys a focused coalition of parents in a diverse range of groups including the African American Parent Council (AAPC), the English Learners Advisory Committee (ELAC), Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA), the Marshall Fundamental Athletic Boosters and the Band Boosters.

The School Site Council (SSC) is another such group.  It is a small committee comprised of staff, parents and students, and includes representatives from ELAC and PTSA.  The School Site Council provides vision and focus regarding implementation of each year's School Site Plan targets and the expenditures of discretionary funds.

These coalitions provide the foundation of the connection to our parent community, which is then supplemented by a quarterly newsletter, emailed bulletins, the Marshall website, and Ed. Connect, which is the phone outreach program. In addition to two Community Assistants, who help facilitate bringing parents and community volunteers into the schools to support our programs. Also  the SSC has been instrumental in providing strong academic assistance through funding of programs such as Language!, Get Ahead Math, and Accelerated Reader, along with personnel support for ELL students, the computer lab, and security.
