Assessments
PUSD is required to administer the English Language Proficiency Assessments for California (ELPAC) to eligible students in kindergarten—or year one of a two-year kindergarten program, also referred to as transitional kindergarten—through grade twelve. The ELPAC is comprised of the following assessments:
- Initial ELPAC—an initial identification of students as English learners (ELs)
- Summative ELPAC—an annual summative assessment to measure an ELs progress in learning English and to identify the student's English language proficiency level
- Initial Alternate ELPAC—an initial identification of students with the most significant cognitive disabilities as English learners (ELs)
- Summative Alternate ELPAC—an annual summative assessment to measure the progress of EL students with the most cognitive disabilities in learning English and to identify the student's English language proficiency level
The ELPAC assessments are delivered on a computer-based test delivery platform.
