Perla Sanchez
Perla Sanchez, 19 years old, Muir HS graduate 2015, UC Berkeley:
“I started working 4 years ago as a Freshman. My family never used fruits and vegetables before, but the Muir Ranch pushed me out of my comfort zone. I now try new stuff. I know a good cucumber from a bad cucumber. The fresh produce tastes different. I am surrounded by produce which ends up with me eating more fruits and vegetables. When it’s right there in front of you, you eat better. I’m happy to be back for my summer job because it’s good for me and my family. They learn, too. It’s a family journey. Working for Muir Ranch has made me proud of my school, taught me time management, and helped my family’s health.”

“The Muir Ranch has helped me see that working is a part of my future. I now see how having customer service is important and how having a routine can help me. I was never used to that before. Also, I see how different kinds of vegetables can taste. I take them home and my family decides what we are going to cook that day.”
