Pasadena Unified offers a wealth of Signature Programs that focus on developing students' unique interests and talents throughout their TK through 12th grade journey.
In addition to the visual and performing arts programming offered at all PUSD sites, several schools expand arts offerings throughout the school day. Students create and learn through all five art forms: music, dance, visual arts, theatre, and media arts.
ALTADENA ARTS MAGNET: TK-5

Academy of Creative Industries (ACI)
ACI combines rigorous college preparatory curriculum with strong arts-based technical programs that are student-centered.
Arts, Entertainment, & Media (AEM)
AEM students receive training in film and television, video production, graphic design, animation, photography, drawing, painting, printmaking,collage, assemblage, sculpting/ceramics, and other visual and performing arts and media.
Creative Arts, Media & Design (CAMAD)
Through a combination of academic courses, visual arts, and design projects, CAMAD students obtain real-world skills and hands-on experience to pursue an Art and Design career.
An in-school academic support program, AVID prepares students for college as they learn success skills, tour college campuses, and work alongside college tutors.
PUSD partners with Pasadena City College to offer all PUSD high school students the opportunity to earn college credit through dual or concurrent enrollment. John Muir High School Early College Magnet expands on this opportunity by offering students a rigorous, four-year program during and after the regular high school day, in which they can earn up to two years of transferable college credit while in high school.
Students learn skills to create a better and more peaceful world through a school-wide focus on intercultural understanding and strong personal values. International Baccalaureate® (IB) programmes aim to do more than other curricula by developing inquiring, knowledgeable, and caring young people who are motivated to succeed. PUSD offers the Primary, Middle Years, Diploma, and Career-related Programmes.
DUAL LANGUAGE IMMERSION, WORLD LANGUAGE & CULTURE PROGRAMS
Become bilingual, biliterate, and bicultural. Dual Language Immersion Programs (DLIP) enable students to master academic subjects in both English and a target language (Spanish, Mandarin, Armenian, or French).
World language and culture programs center students' identities, histories, and languages through integrated lessons and enrichment experiences.
CROSS-CULTURAL LEARNING MAGNET
In addition to dual language immersion, Longfellow Magnet offers a schoolwide Cross-Cultural Learning Program that immerses students in culturally integrated learning experiences that build academic achievement, global awareness, and appreciation for diverse perspectives and communities.
McKinley’s Immersive Storytelling Academy engages students in creative, technology-rich learning experiences that combine storytelling, media production, and the arts to strengthen communication, elevate student identity and voice, and foster critical thinking and self-expression.
Our students have a choice of a variety of vibrant Career Academies within the four high schools. Each Academy features faculty, business and community involvement in creating a vital and stimulating learning environment that prepares students for college and a career aligned with college entrance requirements, industry needs, and career projections.
