Early childhood and elementary school years are a vital period of child development – physically, mentally, and emotionally. Our Early Education (Pre-K), Transitional Kindergarten (TK), and elementary school programs offer a safe, nurturing environment that promotes the physical, social, emotional, creative, linguistic, and cognitive development of each child through developmentally and culturally appropriate practices while responding to the needs of the child and his or her family.
EARLY EDUCATION (Pre-K): These programs are managed by the Child Development Department. Our programs offer full-day preschool, part-day preschool, and before and after school care for families who may qualify for state-subsidized funding. Families who are not income eligible may also be able to obtain services. We serve children in 20 different school locations across the District. Please visit the EARLY EDUCATION page for more information or call our main office at (626) 396-5762 x 10070
TRANSITIONAL KINDERGARTEN (TK): TK bridges the path between preschool and kindergarten, providing students with the smart start they need to be confident learners in kindergarten and beyond. TK is available to those children who turn 5 between September 2 and December 2 of the current school year.
ELEMENTARY EDUCATION: Our elementary school campuses value diverse learning styles, provide rich experiences for all learners, and nurture high self-esteem, character development and lifelong learning. Teachers utilize integrated thematic units, allowing students to make sense of ideas across all subjects. Our elementary programs focus on the whole child. This means teachers provide rigorous academic instruction and in addition, help promote the social and emotional learning skills students need to be middle school, high school, college and career ready.
