Dual Enrollment

What is Dual Enrollment Program at PUSD?

1. The dual enrollment program allows eligible students to work toward both a high school diploma and a college degree at the same time.

2. Students are enrolled in college courses during the day in their own high school, as part of their academic schedule students earn college credits while also meeting graduation requirements and working towards an AA degree while still enrolled in high school.

3. The college courses will be offered in partnership with Pasadena City College (PCC).

4. The ACADEMIC courses are four-year transferable UC/CSU approved courses and will transfer to public colleges and universities in and out of state.

5. Courses that are part of college and career pathways are offered as an elective option but may not be UC/CSU transferable if they serve as introductory or precursor course for PCC pathways and certification.  Students will earn PUSD graduation elective credits these courses.

6. Dual enrollment courses are offered on the high school campus during the school day and are part of the student’s instructional day.

7. Students participating in dual enrollment are more likely to graduate from high school, enroll and complete college, and have higher grade point averages in college than those who do not participate.

8. While in high school, students have the support of their college and high school counselors, teachers and others before "going solo" full time in college.

9.    Students with college credits earned while in high school also have the opportunity to take fewer courses each semester in college to reduce the load and still graduate on time.

10.  Courses offered in the SCHOOL shall be of the same quality and rigor as those offered on the PCC campus; (CA Code of Regulations 55002(a), 55232 and CA Ed Code 48801
