Immigration Enforcement Actions at California TK-12 Schools Guide for Students and Families

In accordance with Assembly Bill 419 (AB 419), our district is sharing the California Department of Justice's guidance, Immigration-Enforcement Actions at California Schools, to help families understand students' rights, school procedures, and privacy protections. The guidance reaffirms that every child has the right to a free public education regardless of their or their parent or guardian's immigration status, and that schools do not require citizenship or immigration documentation, or a Social Security number, for student enrollment. It also outlines the state and federal laws that safeguard student records and personal information, including the limited situations in which information may legally be released.
