What is a Parcel Tax, and how will the funds be used?
A Parcel Tax is a property tax that is levied on all parcels of taxable real property in Pasadena Unified School District (“District”) to expand programs for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (STEAM); enhance career training and college readiness courses; and provide competitive wages for teachers and staff and hire counselors and mental health professionals. It is a fair way to ensure the students’ needs are met while providing funding for important services that directly impact their educational targets.
How Will the Parcel Tax Work?
- Tax Rate: $90 per parcel per year
- Duration: 8 years
- Exemptions: (1) Senior citizens, (2) SSI for disability, or (3) SSDI may be eligible for exemptions
- Payment: The parcel tax will be included with your regular property tax bill
