PUSD Staff Welcome Back
PUSD Kicks Off New School Year with All-Staff Back-to-School Event
Pasadena Unified School District’s annual Back-to-School event sets the tone for the academic year. The event, attended by teachers, administrators, and support staff from across the district, featured a speech from Superintendent Elizabeth Blanco, Ed.D., who outlined the district’s priorities and goals for the 2024-2025 school year.
In her speech, Dr. Blanco emphasized three key goals that will guide the district’s efforts: improving math and literacy proficiency and ensuring college and career readiness in an environment that prioritizes student well-being. These goals, she noted, are critical to empowering students to reach their potential in an increasingly complex world.
“Our collective strengths - our knowledge and expertise, and passion and commitment to every student - will power our momentum,” she said. “Together, we will meet the challenges ahead, celebrate our achievements, and make this a year of growth and achievement.”
The event also celebrated the exceptional contributions of staff and volunteers who have gone above and beyond in their service to the PUSD students. Awards were presented for their outstanding dedication, innovation, and impact on the district community. Their work exemplifies the spirit of excellence that PUSD tries to achieve every day.
The school year begins for students on Monday, August 19, 2024. PUSD remains committed to academic excellence and cultural responsiveness, and transforming education to empower students to succeed.
The PUSD event was supported by the Pasadena Educational Foundation.
