2022 Transitional Kindergarten Parent Survey -Coming Soon

  • Transitional kindergarten is a publicly funded first year of a two-year program for California students who turn 5 between September 2nd through February 2nd of the 2022-2023 school year. Elementary schools are required to offer transitional kindergarten to all eligible students. TK classes are taught by TK credentialed teachers. The ratio for 2022-2023 will be 1:12. Pasadena Unified will use the Creative Curriculum which is aligned with the California State Preschool Standards (Foundations) along with a modified Kindergarten Curriculum (Common Core Standards). 

    The Transitional Kindergarten program is optional and parents may elect to send their children to the TK program or keep their children enrolled in a preschool program for an additional year.     Regarding our one-time $40 million Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund (ESSER III) grant. Respondents' priorities included: focusing on key ELA and Math curriculum; increasing instructional staffing; targeting students with the greatest need for support and intervention; and strengthening social-emotional supports. The community supported making improvements to facilities, including repairs to classroom windows, replacing old carpets and generally improving classrooms to reduce environmental hazards related to COVID-19.
