• Being Blair = Being IB. "IB" is a system of education developed by the International Baccalaureate organization. IB provides our overarching philosophy at Blair, guiding our learning, our teaching and our activities.

Offering even one program from IB makes a school an IB school, and the whole school is impacted. IB is also about the whole person, encouraging personal AND academic development.

    The IB approach:

    • is holistic, connecting learning across disciplines and into all aspects of life, including service
    • is empowering, guiding students to direct their own learning and act on what they learn
    • is international-minded, expanding students' mindsets to think and relate in a global understanding

The characteristics of IB learners permeate the campus culture. Students and staff alike strive to be IB Learners: Inquirers, Knowledgeable, Thinkers, Communicators, Principled, Open-minded, Caring, Risk-takers, Balanced and Reflective.

The authorization to be an IB World School is granted only after thorough review by the International Baccalaureate. "IB" refers to the organization, its trademarked curriculum, the approach in education, to specific IB programs and informally, to IB courses.
