Summer 2020 Meals for Area Children

The Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD) will offer free breakfasts and lunches for children and youth 18 years old or younger this summer through the 2020 Summer Food Program at seven PUSD "Grab & Go Centers" and three community sites. Meals will be served May 29 - July 31, 2020 (no service July 3).

Since the physical closure of schools in mid-March due to the Coronavirus (COVID 19) pandemic, the Pasadena Unified School District's (PUSD) Food & Nutrition Services (FNS) has provided free breakfast and lunch for children 18 and younger at seven “Grab & Go” Food Centers weekdays from 9 a.m.-11 a.m. The City of Pasadena is providing lunch for students and their families on weekends.

Sponsored by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and PUSD’s Food and Nutrition Services Department and operated by PUSD, the city of Pasadena and other organizations, the free meals are served at schools, and other sites throughout Pasadena, Altadena, and Sierra Madre. Children do not need to be enrolled in PUSD schools to receive a meal and no pre-registration is required.

Prepackaged meals are available for pick up between 9 a.m. - 11 a.m. in the parking lot or bus lane at each participating school.  Please stay in your car and meals will be passed to you.

P-EBT Cards

  • Due to Coronavirus (COVID-19), children who are eligible for free or reduced-price meals at school will get extra food benefits. These food benefits are called Pandemic EBT or P-EBT benefits.

P-EBT benefits help families in California buy food when schools are closed because of the coronavirus emergency. Families will get up to $365 per eligible child on their P-EBT card to use on food and groceries. Families with children who get CalFresh, Medi-Cal or Foster Care benefits do not need to apply. M

Most families will get their P-EBT card from the State of California in the mail during the month of May.

Families with children who are eligible for Free or Reduced-Price meals and have not yet received a P-EBT card in the mail, can now apply for P-EBT benefits online at
