Degrees and Certifications:

Ms. Kristen Aviles

My name is Kristen Aviles and this will be my 21st year teaching in Pasadena Unified.  I started out my career at Washington Elementary where I taught for 18 years. I taught 1st grade for five years, Kindergarten for eleven years, and 5th Grade for three years, 2nd grade for two years.  I moved to Hamilton in 2018 and have never felt more at home.

I received a Bachelor's Degree in General Studies from USC where I finished with a Preliminary Credential with CLAD after my four years of undergraduate work in 2000 and began teaching for PUSD.  Two years later in 2002 I graduated from USC with a Masters in Education in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis on GATE instruction.

Along with teaching I am also the proud parent of a twelve year old daughter.  She is the light of my life. She is very talented in sports, drama, singing, and art.  She has had solo singing parts the past two years at her school and her class is constantly asking her to sing for them.  She is not only talented but an amazing person. She is always wanting to volunteer and help out whenever possible. She has a very kind and caring heart.

I do have to say one last thing.  I not only have one child, I have over 500 children.  I say this because each and every child that enters my class takes a piece of my heart with them and I consider them one of my own even if they are there only briefly.

I know this will be a great year and I look forward to meeting all the new families and catching up with the old ones.
