Calendar
Aug - Oct: Fill out college applications. Attend college nights & seminars. Fill out CSS Profile if your school requires it. Register for SAT I, SAT Subject, and/or ACT and send scores to schools. Apply for scholarships.
Oct /Nov: Send college applications. Fill Out FAFSA. Apply for FSA ID through fsaid.ed.gov/npas/index.htm
Must take SAT I or ACT if you have not done so. May complete SAT Subject (optional). Look for and complete Scholarships! If applying to private schools, be sure to refer to your Naviance account. College Letters of recommendation must go through Naviance. Complete a Brag sheet of your accomplishments.
Jan-April: Submit FAFSA at www.fafsa.ed.gov by April 2. Keep copies of all forms.
Feb-May: Continue applying for scholarships. Log onto your college accounts often and ensure everything is up-to-date (applications, grades, transcripts from all schools, tests, etc…).
Testing- fee waiver available for Puente Students and students who receive free lunch.
College Application Due Dates: Early Action varies for each college
Financial Aid- Gift Aid -Pell Grant (through the FAFSA) and Cal Grant A& B are offered through the government, student must meet academic and financial eligibility.
- Self Help Aid – Loans (Stafford, Perkins, and Plus) and work-study
- Local scholarships –Check the John Muir website and Naviance
- Other scholarships – Internet, books, organizations, companies, and see websites above
