Degrees and Certifications:
Hello, I am your child’s Period Math/ Science/ or Biology Teacher for the 2016 – 2017 school year. I want to extend to you and your child my warmest welcome into my classroom. I know I started the school year late, and this is my first year with PUSD and at Blair! I have sixteen years of Special Education classroom experience. Previously, I taught at Peary Middle School and 75th Street Elementary School in the Los Angeles Unified School District. I grew up in Los Angeles with a family of six. I have 1 older brother 2 younger siblings. I graduated from California State University, Los Angeles in 1999 with my bachelor’s degree in Socio-Cultural Anthropology and I received my teaching credential from Los Angeles County Office Education. I am married with 2 children a son (21) and a daughter (13). My son attends Columbia College in Chicago and my daughter is an eighth grade student at Augustine Ramirez in Eastvale, CA. I am very excited about working with your child this year!
My philosophy for learning is that each child is unique, and each child learns in a different way. One of my jobs as a teacher is to help your child discover his or her individuality and work alongside with them to maximize it. I believe in hands-on experiences, learning creatively (movies, magazines, trips etc.) and learning through peer group collaboration. It is my goal to create a community of learners who are committed to working hard and having fun. I want students to leave my classroom feeling confident that they can apply what they’ve learned in school to real-life situations. I want my students to feel challenged and to have an enhanced passion for learning.
Collaboration, cooperation, and open communication between home and school are keys to building a strong foundation for a successful school year. Please feel free to contact me at anytime. I can be reached directly at (951) 305-4543 or via e-mail (firstname.lastname@example.org). If you would like to talk in person, I am always available to schedule appointments before school on Mondays and after school on Wednesdays.
Your child will need a Single Subject notebook, pencils, and colored pencils or markers for science or biology. Please send me a text or email to confirm you received this information with your name and your child’s name.
