Ms. Kristyn Shiohama

Hello! I'm Kristyn Shiohama and I have been teaching for 23 years, 20 of them being with Pasadena USD. I have a BA in Literature from the University of California, Santa Cruz. Go banana slugs!

I received my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential, as well as my master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction, at Chapman University in Orange, CA. I currently teach 4th grade at fabulous Hamilton Elementary. I have led numerous student groups such as the Spelling Bee, Math Field Day, Student Council, and the Odyssey of the Mind team.

Over the years, I have received many honors, but I must say, to date, the most prestigious award I've earned was PUSD's "Teacher of Excellence" award in 2015.

Outside of life at Hamilton, I love to spend time with my family, dance, and read. I enjoy taking dance classes and have tried every sort of dance from flamenco to tap. Two of my favorite authors are Mo Willems and E.E. Cummings.
