As part of our response to the recent Eaton Fire, PUSD has completed the first phase of soil testing at all school sites. This effort, undertaken in partnership with a State-licensed environmental consulting firm, was guided by one core principle: the safety of our students and employees is not negotiable.

The Pasadena Unified School District filed a lawsuit against Southern California Edison seeking compensation for extensive damages to educational facilities and disruption of operations caused by the devastating Eaton Fire that began on January 7, 2025.
Matteo Paz, a Pasadena High School senior, won first place in the Regeneron Science Talent Search, the U.S.’s oldest science and math competition for high school seniors. Matteo designed machine-learning algorithms to analyze 200 billion entries of full-sky data into a catalog of hidden rare stars and galaxies.
Why PUSD Must Make These Difficult Choices
I want to address our current financial situation and the extraordinarily difficult decisions to put our district on a path toward fiscal stability. This year has tested us in ways we never could have imagined. First, we endured the devastating Eaton fire, then we faced the difficult financial realities that followed.
Our students are shining in the visual and performing arts, and it’s a reminder of the healing power of the arts – and the resilience and creativity that define us. Join us on March 14 at the 20th annual No Boundaries art exhibition at Paseo Colorado.
